It's a comprehensive project that begins in September.
Lines between the high-voltage facilities in the industrial park and the switching station at Knardalstrand are to be replaced.
Large project, many affected
"The work involves two river spans that go from the pylons, across the industrial area, the docks, across the river, and Rv356, to the pylons at Knardalstrand," says Øyvind Nyhus, managing director of Herøya Nett AS.
Helicopters will be used to transport equipment on the Knardalstrand side. In addition, there will be noise associated with splicing of lines.
"The project begins with equipment setup this week, week 37, and continues until the beginning of November. Some weeks will have less activity".
Noise associated with splicing of lines
In addition to some helicopter traffic and the noise it will generate, there is also a notification about noise associated with splicing of lines. This noise will be perceived as loud cracks, and there may be around 5 or 6 cracks per day during the weeks when the work is being carried out.
Reduced traffic flow on Drangedalsvegen
There will be reduced speed and traffic flow on the road Rv356, Drangedalsvegen. Cyclists and pedestians will be able to pass in groups while the lines are being replaced.
Detours in the industrial park
"The affected area in the industrial park will be marked, and detour sign will be posted. There will be large cranes in the area around the intersection of Gate 14/Gate 16, and at Building 134 during the operation," explaines project manager Lars Kringlåk, at Herøya Nett AS.
Project manager Lars Kringlåk provide information about activities for the upcoming weeks.
"Nettpartner, who will be performing this job for us, will work from Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 19:00 during the construction period. If everything goes according to plan the work should be completed early in November."
The preliminary schedule will look like this:
